My name is Alvina Sheridan and I’m a twenty-three years young woman. I currently live in a small country called the Netherlands and it’s placed in Europe. My first language is Dutch and this would be one reason why you can see a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes on my website and I do hope they will be pointed out so I can learn from my mistakes. I still live with my parents and sister but hope to get my own place in one of the following 5 years.
Referring to the above paragraph, I like to see what I did wrong so I can correct my mistakes and might improve them as well. Since I am very fond of the English language I write fan fictions so I can also improve my English as I am always trying to find new words to use. I also like to read English books though recently I’ve gone back to reading Dutch books as well. But none the less I love reading in both languages and also tend to read too many fan fictions. You might say I have a slight (big) addiction to fan fictions.
Ever since I was a little kid I wrote letters to my relatives. Usually they were just explaining what I did that day or week nothing more. When my oldest cousin died, I started to write to him; telling him what I’ve done and how much I miss him. This is how I realised that I loved writing.
I started reading fan fictions in 2000 and those were mostly Backstreet Boys fan fictions. Later on I found that some stories were not to my likening how they ended so I re-wrote the ending in my mind. A year later I decided to just write my own fan fictions and started writing Backstreet Boys and a1 fan fictions. I remember one of my first fan fictions was the Backstreet Boys on the Titanic, it’s a shame I don’t have it anymore… I posted them on fanfiction.net and received a few reviews, which I loved getting (yes, even flames).
I have been to various schools and last attended the Da Vinci College where I studied to become a ‘Software Developer’. Even though I was pushed into the IT direction I do enjoy it. I love programming so it’s a big plus I could study it. I now attend Avans Hogeschool in Breda where I study Informatics.
Although I haven’t gotten a ‘real’ job yet I did a work experience at the Fire Department in the IT direction. I was an IT Support Technician and helped people solve their computer problems. After this I also got a summer job at the Fire Department. Not to mention I did a trainee experience with Seagull Software where I had to built a plugin for their existing application. I won’t go into detail on what I did there.
When you first meet me, you’ll get to know me as a really shy person. I rarely initiate interactions and tend to hang in the background. I never know how to start a conversation and always feel like I’m about to say something stupid. Once you get to know my you’ll realise I am much more than my first impression. I’m told to be funny, kind, nice, caring, sensitive and many more things I do not remember.
My Internet experience started in 2002. In that time I’ve had online friends who turned their back on me and since I have been unable to trust people easily, which is one of the reason’s I decided to use an alias on the Internet. It takes me a while to be able to trust someone and even then I won’t trust that person completely. This is not meant as an offense to anyone, it’s just my truth. I also have problems talking to new people, this is because I am a very shy person.
I tend to watch too many films and have hundreds of favourite films. Also, I have a lot of favourite actors and actresses. Every day I listen to music and I am a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys and 30 seconds to Mars. I even listen to music when I am reading a book, makes the book so much more then it is without music.
In the future I hope to have my own website hosting or web shop. I love programming and hope to learn every computer language that is available. At the moment I only know (X)HTML, CSS and a little but of PHP and MySQL. Furthermore I hope to get a nice job as a software developer and a relatively small company.
